October, 2021 Fall Meeting at Bethany Church

Hi! Hope this finds you and your family doing well, and enjoying the peaceful and comforting grace of our Lord.

On the third weekend of October (15, 16, 17), Bethany Primitive Baptist Church – Elder Silas Ford, Pastor, hosted its annual Fall meeting.

The invited ministers were Elder Michael Gowens, pastor of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Calabash, North Carolina, and Elder Josh Coker, pastor of Vestavia Primitive Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.

Each service was preceded by a song service, led by song leaders, and sung by the congregation “a Capella” (without musical instruments).

Friday Evening, 10-15-2021

Eld. Marty Smith, pastor of Union Primitive Baptist Church, Roswell, GA opened services with comments and prayer.

Eld. Mike Gowens preached from Genesis 16 on “God’s Eye is Upon Us”.

A fellowship ice cream social followed the Friday night services.


Saturday Morning, 10-16-2021

Eld. Josh Coker preached from John 3, continuing with the subject of “John the Baptist”.

– He (Jesus) must increase, we must decrease

1. Be born again of the Spirit

Saturday evening, a fellowship chili supper was held in the lunchroom.


Sunday Morning, 10-17-2021

Eld. Mike Gowens preached from 2 Corinthians 5 on “A New Beginning”

– After being born again, we are a new creature in Christ
– Jesus loves us with an everlasting love, and He deserves our best
– The motivation for living is the love of Christ
– While our body (earthly home) may go away, our heavenly home was made by Jesus and will always stand

The meeting concluded with a fellowship lunch.
